Kathmandu, December 15

National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said the sport’s governing body was planning to provide the Olympians with monthly stipend.

Bista said so during a Chandragiri Hills tour organised by NSC to honour the Olympians. Around 30 Olympians visited Chandragiri Hills. “We have been paying Rs 10,000 to first Nepali Olympians. So, most probably Rs 3,000 will be given to other Olympians from February-March. The amount will be increased to Rs 5,000 from next fiscal year,” Bista said.

Bista also said monthly stipend will also be given to the silver and bronze medallists of the South Asian Games. Before travelling to the hills, NSC also distributed track-suit to the Olympians and Bista inaugurated NSC’s new bus as well.

“We are also planning to buy three more buses to provide facilities for the national team players,” said Bista.
