National Women’s Volleyball in May

Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation is organising the National Women’s  Volleyball Tournament here at the National Sports Council covered hall  from May 4-8.

A total of six teams — defending champions Nepal APF  Club, last year’s runners-up Shivam New Diamond Academy, Nepal Police  Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Western Volleyball Team and Jawalakhel Youth  Club — will take part in the league-cum-knockout tournament,  informed Foundation President Ranjan Khadka at a press meet today.

Top three teams will receive Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000  respectively, while the player of the tournament will get Rs 10,000. Similarly, the  best blocker, quicker, server, defender, libero and coach will earn Rs  5,000 each.

Khadka informed that a player will be awarded with  special award of Rs 10,000. “The best individual awards will be picked up by the

jury, while the Foundation will select the winner of the special  award,” said Khadka. The estimated budget of the tournament is two million rupees.

Meanwhile,  the Foundation announced scholarships to women  volleyball players Saraswoti Chaudhary, Reshma Bhandari and Kamana  Bista. The players will get Rs 2,000 per month for a year. President of Nepal Volleyball Association Manoranjan Raman Sharma and proprietor of Our Annapurna Catering Service handed over the cheques to Bhandari and Bista. Chaudhary was not present at the programme. Last year, the Foundation had provided scholarships to Aruna Shahi, Kripa Adhikari and Pratibha Mali.
