Banu, Hada win squat competition on Women's Day

LALITPUR: The third 'Period Power Inter-club Women's Squat Competition' was held to mark the International Women's Day at Heritage Garden in Sanepa, Lalitpur on Thursday.

The two-day competition co-organised by Jasmine Fitness and Spa, and Ideashop Media and Entertainment with an objective to support women concluded yesterday.

The participant women competed in two categories on the basis of weight. As many as 13 players vied in the final round of the below 60 kg (light weight) category while 25 others contended in the above 60 kg category.

Neha Banu won the squat competition in the light weight category while Aruna Basnet and Joyti Thapa became the second and third finishers respectively. Likewise, Solini Hada won the competition while Uma Maharjan and Anjana Rai became the first and second runners-up in the above 60 kg category.

Sapana Pradhan Malla, the Chief Guest of the programme, distributed prizes to all the winners. The first prize had the pocket of Rs 50,000, while the second and third comprised Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

As the programme has been able to attract a huge crowd, it will also be carried out in the upcoming years to mark the International Women's Day, said the organisers in a press statement.

The event was hosted by former Miss Nepal Sugarika KC. Four other title holders of Miss Nepal 2017 — Nikita Chandak (Miss Nepal World), Rojina Shrestha (Miss Nepal Earth), Niti Shah (Miss Nepal International) and Sahara Basnet (Miss Nepal Asia Pacific) — were also present to boost the programme.
