Neha on fire as Rato Bangala win

Neha Chaudhari top-scored with 19 points as Rato Bangala School thrashed hosts Campion School 41-15 in the girls’ Pool B match of the Campion Inter-school Basketball Tournament, here at Campion School today. Sumnima Rai and Bhaanu Gurung netted four points each for the losing team.

In the boys’ section Pool A playoff match, Brihaspati Vidya Sadan (BVS) dominated the field almost throughout the match and outplayed LRI School 33-23. BVS netted six points in the first quarter while LRI failed to open their accounts. LRI opened their account in the second quarter, thanks to Ripesh Thapa’s 2-pointer. LRI came back strongly in the third set and took a 2-point lead but were still five points behind. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 21-16 in favour of BVS. In the last quarter, Sajjan Gurung had six pionts while Bipul Neupane and Ashim Shrestha, who was the highest scorer, netted four and two points respectively to help BVS accumulate 12 points and restricted LRI to just seven, for a 33-23 win.

In the other Pool A match, Kunchok Phurbu netted 14 points in Sambotta High School’s 58-31 victory over Campion School. In Pool B, Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) overwhelmed Rato Bangala School 67-41, with Robin Khatri scoring 12 points for the winners.

Corporate Volleyball

KATHMANDU: Both teams of Nepal Electricity Association (NEA) — red and blue — entered the semi-finals of the Birthday Cup Inter-corporation Volleyball Tournament, which has been organised by Nepal Electricity Authority to mark the the king’s 59th birthday. NEA ‘red’ advanced after beating Centre for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) 25-13, 25-11, 25-16; while NEA ‘blue’ made it to the last four defeating Nepal Telecom 25-15, 25-11, 25-23. In other quarter-final matches, Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) outplayed Nepal Drinking Water Corporation 18-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-14; and National Sports Council beat Janak Education Material Centre Limited 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.
