Nepal Amateur Open tees off today at Gokarna

Kathmandu, March 20

Nepal Golf Association is organising the Nepal Amateur Open here at the par-72 Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa from March 21-23.

The tournament is divided into two categories — individual and team. A total of 48 players from Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan are taking part in the individual category, while five teams will vie for the team championship, informed the NGA in a release today. The tournament is supported by Mountain Sports Federation.

The participating golfers — 42 from Nepal, four from Bhutan and two from Bangladesh — will play over 54 holes in the individual category, while the team results will be announced after the second round. In individual section, cut will be applied after the second round and top 30 golfers will make it to the final round.

Nepal and Bhutan are fielding two teams each, while Bangladesh have one. Tenzing Tshiring and Tanka Karki have been picked up for Nepal A, while Sukra Bahadur Rai and Shiva Raj Majhi are in Nepal B. Likewise, Bhutan A is represented by Dechen Wangdi and Tshering Tenzin, while Dechen Lendup and Rinzin Dorji are in Bhutan B. Md Shah Alam and Md Shorat Sikdar are in Bangladesh team.
