APF, NPC sail into last eight

Kathmandu, September 15

Departmental sides Nepal APF Club and Nepal Police Club sailed into the men’s section quarter-finals of the third NVA National Women’s and Men’s Club Volleyball Championship here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

APF topped Group B to take a berth in the last eight beating Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club in straight sets of 25-20, 25-18, 25-16. APF had defeated Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre in their first match of the group that comprised of three teams.

Dhorpatan, who had beaten Budhanilkantha in their opener, also booked a place in the knockout stage as group B runner-up.

Likewise, NPC topped Group A with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 win against Manimukunda Volleyball Club of Butwal.

Earlier, the Policemen had defeated Kavre District Volleyball Association. Manimukunda also entered into the quarter-finals as group runners-up as they had beaten Kavre in first match of the group.

Western Region surpassed Naya Bazar Volleyball Association 25-21, 25-17, 26-24 to finish as the Group D winners. They had won their match against Pragatishil Youth Club.

Naya Bazar, who had defeated Pragatishil, also made it to the knockout stage as group runners-up.

In women’s category, Tribhuvan Army Club became the eighth and final team to book a place in the quarter-finals.

TAC recorded a convincing 25-6, 25-9, 25-8 victory over Pragatishil to finish as the Group A runners-up. New Diamond Academy topped the group with two wins.
