APF’s Joshi, Shrestha through to second round

Kathmandu, January 30

The pair of Sunil Joshi and Ramesh Shrestha of APF advanced to the men’s doubles second round of the 13th Krishnamohan Memorial Open Badminton Tournament here at the Nepal APF Club covered hall today.

Joshi and Shrestha defeated the pair of Mohan Aire and Chiran Bista of Kanchanpur 24-22, 21-16. Likewise, APF’s Nirajan Devkota and Nir Bikram Devkota thrashed Chandrasurya Badminton Club shuttlers Bodhraj Shrestha and Subash Ulak 21-4, 21-10, and APF duo Bishal Pradhan and Bijit Thapa Magar saw off Shashi Rawat and Akhil Shrestha 21-12, 21-15.

Nepal Police Club duo Gaurav Dahal and Anil Shrestha outplayed Mahottari’s pair of Barun Dahal and Sushil Shrestha 21-9, 21-11, while the duo of Deepak Bohara and Gautam Kathayet of NPC outplayed Lalitpur’s Prabin Lingdep and Dipesh Shakya 21-10, 21-16.

Tribhuvan Army Club shuttlers Suroj Maharjan and Ram Rai beat Ram Chandra Giri and Hari Gotame of Dhading 21-10, 21-13, while Ram Kumar Baniya and Romanta Pradeep Baniya of Annapurna Badminton Club recorded a 21-17, 21-10 victory over the pair of Thir Bahadur Karki and Rupak Thing. Badminton Academy Nepal’s duo Sunil Barahi and Sabin Dungel defeated Bidur Kandel and Chitra Bahadur Magar of Dhading 21-10, 21-8.

Meanwhile, TAC’s pair of Ratnajit Tamang and Nabin Shrestha as well as the pair of Rukesh Maharjan and Prabhul Maharjan, APF’s Indra Mahata and Bimal Shrestha and the pair of Suman Limbu and Sudip Sedhai, Kathmandu’s Narayan Gautam and Abhishek Gurung, and the duo of Om Gurung and Thapchen Sherpa got bye.

TAC’s Rukesh Maharjan, Shiva Thapa of Nepalgunj Badminton Academy, APF’s Prince Dahal, Kanchanpur’s Mohan Aire, Sunsari’s Bishal Khadka and TAC’s Praphul Maharjan won their men’s U-17 singles matches.
