KATHMANDU: Nepal Under-19 cricket team faced an excruciating defeat from India in their final group stage match of the ICC U-19 World Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, in Mirpur of Bangladesh, on Monday.

Indian opening batsmen Ishan Kishan and Rishab Pant made an outstanding partnership of 124 runs from 9.1 runs to chase the 170 run target Nepal had posted.

Pant was bowled out by Prem Tamang after making a total of 78 runs facing 24 balls, including nine 4s and five 6s. Pant made the fastest U-19 international fifty from 18 balls surpassing West Indies' Trevon Griffith's record from 19 balls. He was also named man of the match.

Shankar Rana caught Ricky Bhui's shot bowled by Tamang stopping him at 7 runs.

Indian captain Kishan was next to return to pavilion, Sunil Dhamala caught his shot mid-air pitched by Sandeep Lamichhane. Kishan made 52 runs out of 40 balls including seven 4s and three 6s.

Sarfaraz Khan and Armaan Jaffer's partnership of 26 runs from 5.2 overs ended the match with S Khan's winning six.

India's Washington Sundar, Mahipal Lomror, Mayank Dagar, Avesh Khan, Shubham Mavi and Khaleel Ahmed did not bat.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field.

The match was reduced to 48 overs a side and delayed by half-an-hour due to wet ground.

Opening batsman of Nepal, Sunil Dhamala, was caught out by Ricky Bhui in a ball pitched by Avesh Khan in the very first over without any run.

Yogendra Singh Karki suffered an injury when Khan's ball missed the pad and hit him in the unprotected part of his leg. Soon after, Karki went back to the pavilion after A Khan's ball latched right into his stumps.

Captain Raju Rijal faced a hard time in the start to open his account. He made six runs off 26 balls. Khan caught his shot mid-air sending Rijal back to the stands.

Sandeep Sunar and Aarif Shiekh maintained a partnership of 16 runs from 6 overs.

Nepal faced yet another loss as highest scorer Sunar retired at 37 runs from 73 balls after Washington Sundar caught the ball.

Scores of Nepali supporters could be seen in the stadium cheering for Nepal regardless of the loss Nepal had faced.

Shiekh made a beautiful swing aiming for a six, however, the shot got caught mid air by Mayank Dagar in W Sundar's ball.

Huge confusion while running in between the wickets cost Nepal another wicket. New batsman Dipendra Singh Airee, got stumped after making one run.

Kushal Bhurtel was caught off guard, wicket keeper Rishabh Pant blew his wickets in Sundar's ball.

A simple catch from Armaan Jaffer dismissed Rajbir Singh's shot and sent him out of the ground with 35 runs in his account.

Sushil Kandel and Prem Tamang ended the innings with a partnership of 23 runs from 3.1.

Star of Nepal's last game against Ireland, Sandeep Lamichhane, did not bat.
