Dipesh Kandel's hat-rick has propelled Nepal to secure sensational seven-runs victory over United Arab Emirates (UAE) to qualify for ICC Under-19 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka.
With this victory, Nepal's eight years wait to participate in the world stage has been over.
In a do-or-die contest against the hosts today at the Eden Garden Oval Ground, Nepal managed to score a below-par score of 192 runs despite beating other nations comprehensively.
Skipper Dev Khanal top-scored for Nepal with 51 runs off 84 balls while Bishal Bikram KC and Uttam Thapa Magar contributed 38 runs and 36 runs respectively.
Dhruba Prasar was the pick-of-the-bowler for UEA with three scalps while Harit Setti and Captain Ayan Khan chipped in with two wickets each.
Chasing the modest total, UAE fell short by seven runs to secure them the spot at the U-19 world cup at the expense of Nepal. Ethan Disuja hit 50 runs off 66 balls for UAE.
Man of the match Dipesh Kandel was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with five wickets. Subash Bhandari and Hemanta Dami took two wickets each.
Earlier, Nepal had beaten Singapore by 86 runs, Kuwait by 243 runs, Hong Kong by nine-wickets and Malaysia by 10-wickets.
