KATHMANDU, APRIL 25
Nepal registered a commanding 37-run victory over the United Arab Emirates in the opening match of the ongoing home series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
Chasing a modest target of 201, the UAE were bowled out for 163 in 48.2 overs.
Karan KC spearheaded Nepal's bowling attack with an impressive four-wicket haul, while Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed two wickets each. Dipendra Singh Airee and Lalit Rajbanshi chipped in with one apiece.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, Nepal were sent in to bat and were dismissed for 200 in 48.2 overs. Vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee anchored the innings with a composed 75 off 90 deliveries.
Kushal Bhurtel scored 24 at the top of the order, while Aasif Sheikh (7), Bhim Sharki (10), captain Rohit Paudel (2), Basir Ahmad (20), Arif Sheikh (15), Sompal Kami (15) and Karan KC (22) made modest contributions.
For the UAE, Aayan Khan and Junaid Siddique claimed three wickets each, while Karthik Meiyappan took two. Haider Ali and Muhammad Shahdad picked up one wicket apiece.
Nepal will next face Oman in their second match on Wednesday.
