PNG restricted to 114 runs
KATHMANDU: Nepal need to chase 115 runs for victory against Papua New Guinea in a play-off game of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers game in Harare of Zimbabwe on Thursday.
Skipper Paras Khadka won the toss in the crucial encounter and opted to bowl first while Papua New Guinea made a meager 115 runs before being bowled out in 27.2 overs.
Charles Amini top scored with 19 runs off 18 balls.
Star spinners Sandeep Lamichanne and Dinesh Singh Airee both grabbed four wickets each. Lamichhane took four middle order wickets whereas Singh bagged tail orders to wrap up the innings.
PNG’s innings never gained any momentum after Nepali bowlers kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.
Airee was the pick from the Nepali bowlers with 4.2-0-14-4.
Speedster Karan KC and Sompal Kami bagged one wicket each.
