Nepal continue piling points
KATHMANDU: Hosts Nepal continued to shine against the visiting Lions Kamarupa Academy of Assam in the Friendly Chess Tournament here today.
Chandra Prakash Gurung, Roshan Poudel and Bijay Dangol registered double wins today. After the completion of the fifth round, Nepal have accumulated 32 while giving away only eight points to the visitors. On Wednesday, Nepal earned 13.5 while Kamarupa got 2.5 points.
Chandra Prakash beat Siddhant Khemka in the fourth round before seeing off Ruchit Chauhan next. Roshan defeated Subham Jain and Siddhant in the fourth and fifth round respectively. Bijay, meanwhile, overcame Mohit Jain in the fourth and Prabhav Kumar Agrawal in the fifth round.
Five-year old Bibidh Pratap Singh also fared well. Bibidh defeated Jyotimoi Goswami in the fourth round but was forced to play a draw against Mohit in the next round. Sanjay Awal and Jainish Thapa also earned a point each against Prabhav and Ruchit but Sajan Shrestha and Ujjwol Dangol handed away a point each with defeats against Dewarshi Goswami and Abhinav respectively.
