KATHMANDU, JUNE 24

Nepal secured its second consecutive victory in the ongoing ACC U-16 East Zone Cup Cricket Tournament in Malaysia, defeating Japan by nine wickets on Tuesday.

In the match played at the Kolej Tuanku Jaafar Oval, Japan, after winning the toss, was bowled out for just 80 runs in 34.3 overs. Nepal chased down the target comfortably in 14.2 overs, losing only one wicket.

Shubham Khanal starred with the ball for Nepal, taking five wickets, while Abhay Yadav claimed two, and Sushil Bahadur Rawal and captain Bipin Prasad Sharma picked one each. For Japan, skipper Charlie Harahinze top-scored with 36 runs.

Earlier, Nepal had defeated Singapore by six wickets in the opening match. With two wins in a row, Nepal now leads Group 'A' with four points.

Nepal, the defending champion of all three previous editions, will next face Indonesia on June 29 and Bhutan on July 1. The tournament features 10 teams, split into two groups.
