KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15

Nepal has beat Bahrain by seven wickets in a match under the ACC Men's U19 Premier Cup-2023 underway in Malaysia. Chasing a meagre of 78 runs target posted by Bahrain, Nepal achieved it in 11.4 overs at the loss of three wickets. This is the second consecutive win of Nepal in the tournament. Earlier, Nepal thrashed Iran by a wide margin of 274 runs in its first match.

For the winning team, Dev Khanal remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 27 balls with four boundaries and one six. Similarly, Arjun Kumal made 32 off 31. His scores included five fours. Opener Dipak Bohara contributed four.

For Bahrain, Anas Obaid Syed took three wickets singlehandedly. Winning the toss and batting first, Bahrain made 77 runs in 37.5 overs at the loss of all wickets. For the team, Muhammad Basil hit highest 34 off 77 with two sixes and two fours. However, other players could not score double digits for the team. Rishab Ramesh contributed six, Ayan Obaid Syed three and Sai Sarthak Vaddiraju two. On the bowling side, Nepal's Dipesh Kandel bagged six wickets singlehandedly while Durgesh Gupta four.

Nepal is playing its third match against Saudi Arabia on coming 19 October. It will make it to the semifinals if it wins the match. Top three winners in the tournament will qualify for the ACC Asia Cup being held in Pakistan in coming December.
