Nepal demolish Sri Lanka 4-0 in women's football of SAG
KATHMANDU: Nepal's women football team thrashed Sri Lanka 4-0 in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) on Saturday.
In the last match of the group stage played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, an own goal from Sri Lankan defender A Perera gave Nepal an early lead in the 4th minute.
Sabitra Bhandari scored a brace and Sapana Lama added one more to seal the game against Sri Lanka 4-0.
Bhandari scored goals in the 51st and 63rd minutes, while Lama in the 79th minute.
With the win, Nepal completed the group stage journey unbeaten, without conceding a single goal.
Nepal have already secured the final berth in the women's football tournament in the regional sports gala.
Earlier on Thursday, Nepal had played a goalless draw against India and Nepal had defeated Bangladesh 3-0 and Maldives 2-0 in their first and second matches respectively.
