Nepal drop down in ranking

Kathmandu, July 9

Nepal dropped two positions down in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday to be at the bottom among the South Asian countries.

Nepal are placed at the 185th position in the ranking, at the bottom among the South Asian nations. Nepal’s worst ranking is the 186th position they reached in 2007 and 2014.

Afghanistan, who are at the 134th position, lead the regional table, while India are at 154th position. Bhutan dropped seven places down to 166th, while Bangladesh are at 169th, ahead of Pakistan (172), Maldives (176) and Sri Lanka (183).

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi’s Argentina knocked Germany off top place in the world rankings despite having lost to their rivals in the World Cup final last year and to Chile in last weekend’s Copa America. Reaching the Copa final took the Argentines up two places to claim No 1 ranking for the first time in seven years.

New South American champions Chile moved up eight places to No 11, while Romania rose four places to eighth, and England six places to ninth.
