Nepal face Jordan

KATHMANDU: Nepal U-16 football team will face Jordan in the opening match of the AFC U-16 Qualifiers in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday.

Nepal are placed in Group B along with hosts Kyrgyzstan, Oman and Jordan. Nepal’s coach Upendra Man Singh said every tournament was difficult at this level and was difficult to predict. “We cannot say anything about the match but we want to qualify for the Championship,” he said. Jordan coach Abdullah Qetati was confident of winning the match against Nepal. “We respect all the opponents but we would like to qualify as the winners,” Qetati said.

A total of 15 teams — group winners of all 10 pools and five best-runners up — will join hosts India in next year’s tournament proper.
