Nepal face Yemen

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Yemen in the last match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday.

Nepal — who accumulated just two points from five matches — are out of the race for next year’s finals, while Yemen can secure a berth in the finals with a win on Tuesday.

“We had only three days of proper training as our players were busy in domestic tournaments. However, we will put our best as Yemen will be under pressure,” said Nepal head coach Gyotoku Koji.

Skipper Biraj Maharjan said the match will be taken as a part of preparation for the SAFF Championship.

“Since we are out of the finals race, the match will be an important outing for the SAFF Championship,” said Maharjan.

Currently, Philippines (nine), Yemen (seven) and Tajikistan (seven) hold top three positions of the four-team Group F.
