Nepal Futsal Premier League in August

Kathmandu, June 30

AMA Events Pvt Ltd announced the Nepal Futsal Premier League here on Thursday.

The tournament is divided into two parts. In the first phase, teams from various futsals of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will participate in the selection tournament from June 24, informed the organisers — A Moment 2 Appreciate (AMA) Events — at a press meet. The best 16 teams will then compete in home and away format in final round which will begin on August 1.

“As this is the first edition of the tournament, we are allowing a maximum of one ‘A’ division or national level player in a team,” said Vivek Gautam, Convenor of the Organising Committee. The winners will earn one million rupees, while the runners-up will get Rs 500,000. Likewise, the best player and goalkeeper will earn Rs 50,000 each. “All interested futsals from the valley can take part in the tournament and we are expecting around 30-35 teams in the first phase,” said Gautam.

“The matches will be held as per the rules and regulations of FIFA and we will coordinate with All Nepal Football Association for technical support,” he added. “We want to make it a competitive tournament and in the years to come we will organise this event as a professional one. We have organised many events in the past

but this is our first experience in sports,” said Gautam. “We have already assessed the market and we are confident of raising the adequate budget for the tournament,” he said.
