Nepal make a disappointing start, lose five early wickets
KATHMANDU: Nepal have made a disappointing start, losing five wickets within the first nine overs, at their second game in the ICC World Cup Qualifier Tournament.
Nepal had won the toss and elected to bat first in the game against Scotland being held at the Queens Sports Stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Vice-Captain Gyanendra Malla was the first to depart. He was dismissed by Safyaan Sharif in the first ball of the second over. Malla made one run off seven deliveries before his departure.
The vice-skipper was soon joined by Dilip Nath, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sharad Vesawkar and Aarif Sheikh in the dressing room.
Dilip Nath was sent packing by Stuart Whittingham in the third over. Next, Whittingham took two back to back wickets, that of Airee and Veswakar in the fifth over. Vesawkar departed without opening his account, off the first delivery that he faced.
Aarif Sheikh soon followed, after having contributed two runs, in the eighth over..
Currently, Skipper Paras Khadka and Sompal Kami are on the crease, batting for Nepal.
Khadka has made 34 runs of 35 deliveries, having cashed in 7 boundaries, by the 12th over. Also, the skipper has completed his 1000 list A runs with this match.
