Nepal's hopes of qualifying for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 came to an end after a penalty shootout loss to Uzbekistan in the final qualifier on Saturday night in Tashkent.

The match ended 3-3 in regulation time, with all three goals for Nepal scored by captain Sabitra Bhandari 'Samba'. In the shootout, Nepal lost 4-2, with goals from Gita Rana and Sabita Rana Magar, while Samba and goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar missed their spot kicks.

This win secures Uzbekistan a place in the AFC Women's Asian Cup for the first time.
