KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22
Nepal suffered a narrow two-run defeat against the Netherlands in their second match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Chasing 141, Nepal managed 138 for seven in 20 overs. Rubina Chhetri top-scored with 32, while Sita Rana Magar remained 27 not out and Bindu Rawal contributed 18. Isabel van der Woning took three wickets for the Netherlands, with Silver Siegers, Robine Rijke, and Caroline de Lange claiming one each.
Earlier, the Netherlands posted 140 for five, led by Babette de Leede's 49 and contributions from Sterre Kalis (30), Robine Rijke (19), and Iris Zwilling (14). Rubina Chhetri took two wickets, while Riya Sharma, Suman Bista, and Puja Mahato took one each.
The Netherlands now have six points from three matches, while Nepal's chances of progressing to the Super Six have weakened following their opening loss to Thailand.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh secured a spot in the Super Six after an 80-run victory over Namibia at the UT Cricket Ground. This was Bangladesh's third consecutive win in Group A, following victories against the USA and Papua New Guinea, ensuring they top the group with six points.
Batting first, Bangladesh scored 144 for seven, with Shobhana Mostari making 27 and Dilera Akter 25. Namibia's Saima Tuhadeleni and Silvia Sihepo took two wickets each.
In reply, Namibia was bowled out for 64 in 17.5 overs, with Suné Witman scoring 19 and Majerly Igorases 12. Shorna Akter starred with the ball for Bangladesh, taking four wickets, while Rabeya Khan and Fahima Khatun took three each.
