Nepal needs to change training approach, says coach Hasan
Kathmandu, September 16
Head coach of Bangladesh Institute of Sports Masud Hasan, who is here to train young cricketers and conduct workshop for coaches, said Nepal needed to change the coaching approach to produce talented players.
Hasan is currently conducting training camp to 50 cricketers at the Great Himalayan Cricket Academy. He said the approach of training in Nepal was not up to the mark. “Nepal needs to come up with different approach as the existing style of coaching has limitations,” said Hasan.
He also suggested the authorities to set a target to be achieved in certain period and work accordingly to reach summit. “The concerned bodies need to set a target and assign different wings to achieve the goal,” he said.
Hasan also said Nepal’s sports governing body could tie up with Bangladesh Institute of Sports, also known as Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, for development of the sport. The world’s best ODI all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, and Nasir Hossain are some of the well-known graduates of the institute.
Meanwhile, Great Himalaya Cricket Academy President Sudeep Sharma, who invited Hasan, said the local players and coaches got the chance to learn a lot from the Bangladeshi coach.
“We have been applying the same old-fashioned techniques to train the cricketers. After attending Hasan’s session, we came to know that the traditional approach was out of date and we need to adopt research-based modern techniques,” he said. “The workshop of Hasan was fruitful for young cricketers at the GHCA and coaches as well. I invited Hasan after I felt the need of a different training as we were not getting desired results despite working hard on players.”
