NOC, CAGIC reach agreement

Kathmandu, September 25

Nepal Olympic Committee and Children of Asia Games International Committee reached an agreement to promote athletes in Nepal and Russia.

NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and CAGIC President Dmitry E Glushko signed the agreement in Danang, Vietnam on the sidelines of the fifth Asian Beach Games. As per the memorandum of understanding, the two parties “will commit to development of an increased cooperation in the field of sports and enhance their cooperation and encourage meaningful sports exchanges in cooperation with sports organizations of Nepal and Russia.”

The CAGIC also agreed to support for the training of Nepali athletes and coaches in Russia and also provide technical assistance and sports equipment upon requested by the NOC, while the Nepali side will facilitate the Russian athletes in their training in high altitude facilities.  Likewise, the two sides also agreed to send Nepali athletes in competitions organised by the CAGIC.

NOC General Secretary Lama Tendi Sherpa and Treasurer Ratan Tandon were also present at the signing ceremony. A total of 17 players from six sports disciplines are taking part in the Asian Beach Games that began in Danang on Sunday.
