Nepal, Oman match today

Kathmandu, October 27:

Nepal will try to record history when they take on Oman in the return leg of Asia zone 2010 World Cup qualifying match here at the Dasharath Stadium on Sunday.

Nepal, who lost away match 0-2 on October 8, would try to cash on the home advantage playing against the side whom they have never beaten at any level. Considering the records, Nepal has a slim chance of winning.

Nepal have lost all nine matches they have played so far against Oman. The hosts have lost five times with more than a six-goal margin in those encounter while they have scored just one goal themselves .

More than the win, therefore, Nepal would look to contain Oman to a draw. Excited by the better performance of his team in the away match, Nepali coach Shyam Thapa is looking for an upset.

Thapa, who has already hinted that he would step down as the national coach after the match, said that he is preparing to hand Nepal a wonderful gift. “If not the win, my players will certainly try to win hearts of the spectators,” said coach Thapa.

Oman coach Gabriel Calderon is confident of his team’s win. “I am sure of a convincing win provided the proper atmosphere of the stadium,” said the Oman coach. He considers defence as the strength of the Nepal side. “They (Nepal) really work hard in the field.”
