Nepal Police felicitates footballers

Lalitpur, October 16:

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Nepal Police jointly felicitated the AFC President’s Cup finalists Nepal Police Club (NPC) here today.

National league champions NPC became the first Nepali team to make it to the final of the tournament held from September 20-30 in Lahore.

Nepal Police promoted seven players of the 20-member team. Nepal Police also distributed Rs 1.2 million prize money between the team members.

Inspector General of Police Om Bikram Rana presented the insignia to the promoted players. Mukunda Thapa Magar, Ju Manu Rai, Kunjan Nagarkoti, Dipendra Poudel and Bhola Silwal were promoted to Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) while Ramesh Kumar Rai and Lil Bahadur Rai got promoted to Head Constable.

ANFA also honoured the players with Rs 20,000 each. State Minister of Education and Sports Mohan Singh Rathaur handed over the cash to the players and letter of appreciation to team leader AIG Amar Singh Shah, manager Buddhi Bahadur Gurung and coach Birat Krishna Shrestha.

Speaking on the occasion IGP Rana revealed that the club was renamed as Nepal Police Club (NPC) from Mahendra Police Club. “It was the government’s decision to rename the club,” he said.
