Nepal record second successive victory

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Oman by six wickets to register their second successive win in the ACC Trophy Elite Cup match at the Unity grounds in Kuwait today.

Electing to bat first, Oman could only muster 170-9 in their allotted 50 overs thanks to a discipline Nepali bowling attack in their Group A match. In reply, Nepal overcame the total losing four wickets in 39 overs.

Badhari top scored for Oman with 56 runs. Left-arm spinner Rahul Kumar BK was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with three wickets while Shakti Gauchan claimed two. Left-arm seamer Mehboob Alam, Amrit Bhattarai and skipper Paras Khadka also grabbed one wicket each.

Skipper Paras was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his allround performance. He scored 29 runs, claimed one wicket and took two catches.

Nepal defeated defending champions Hong Kong by 118 runs in the tournament opener on Wednesday. Nepal had scored 236-7 before restricting Hong Kong to 118 runs in 33.3 overs. Nepal will take on Singapore in their next league match at the KEC grounds on Saturday.
