NSJF, Dish Media renew contract

Kathmandu, August 23

Nepal Sports Journalists Forum and Dish Media Network Limited signed the sponsorship agreement for the Pulsar Sports Award slated for September 11 at the Nepal Academy Hall.

NSJF President Mahesh Acharya and Dish Media Network’s Chief Executive Officer Sudeep Acharya signed the Memorandum of Understanding amidst a programme.

As per the agreement, Dish Media Network will provide NSJF with a total of Rs 380,000 in cash and kind. NSJF will receive Rs 250,000 and 13 Set Top Box with one-year subscription.

Winners of all eight categories along with five lucky winners among the voters in People’s Choice Award category will get Set Top Box and recharge facilities. In return, Dish Home Action Sports will be the co-sponsor of the Award.

The Sports Award features eight categories — Male, Female, Youth, Coach, People’s Choice, Para-athlete, Special and Lifetime Achievement, informed NSJF General Secretary Prakash Timalsina. The winners in Male, Female, People’s Choice and Coach will get Bajaj NS160 motorbike each, while others will receive Rs 50,000 each and gift hampers.

Dish Media Network CEO Acharya said Dish Home was excited to be a part of the award. “We have been sponsoring the award for seven years and would continue supporting the event in coming years as Dish Media Network and NSJF share similar motto of contributing in sports development. Dish Home and the sports sector are similar in nature as we also deliver various channels through one medium that help in binding the society,” said Acharya. “We have dedicated a channel for sports. It is in preliminary phase and we are experimenting to make it better as we want to see professionalism in Nepali sports,” said Acharya.

NSJF President Acharya thanked Dish Media Network for its continued support for the award. “Dish Media Network and NSJF have close relation. Dish Media Network wants to contribute in the development of sports sector and we also want the same. NSJF started the award to contribute in the sports sector,” said Acharya.

NSJF IPP Ajay Phuyal urged everyone to join hands with them in its bid to honour the sports sector. “We need support from all quarters of society,” he added. Dish Media Network GM Kalyan Adhikari and NSJF past president Niranjan Rajbanshi were also present on the occasion. Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, Ruslan Football, Avenues TV, Sahas Sports, THT LIVE and Hotel Royal Singi are the other partners of the Award.
