Nepal has recorded a 15-run victory over visiting Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the T-20 international Tri-Series on Monday.
In the series opener held today at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium, batting first Nepal had posted a target of 184 runs in their 20 over at the loss of nine wickets, chasing which PNG fell short by 15 runs.
The Nepali skipper Sandeep Lamichhane was awarded the man-of-the-match award for scalping three PNG wickets while only leaking 22 runs in his four overs.
The wicket keeper batsman Aasif Sheikh made the most among the Nepali batsman by smashing 43 off 35 deliveries.
Norman Vanua of PNG made a quick fire 52 off just 29 balls. However, the half-century went in vain as the entire team was sent to the pavilion at 168, with four balls remaining.
In the T20 tri-series, Malaysia will lock horns with PNG at the same venue on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nepal will participate in the encounter with Malysia on Wednesday.
