Nepal, Thailand share points
Kathmandu, November 20
Nepal and Thailand shared points after their opening match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers for Asia Region was washed out due to rain at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok today.
The match was interrupted by the rain at a time when Nepal were 10-0 in 3.4 overs. Openers Jyoti Pandey (four) and Sarita Magar (five) were at the crease while chasing a 91-run target set by the hosts. As no further play was possible following the incessant rain, umpires called off the match and the teams earned one point each.
Earlier, Thailand scored 90-6 in their allotted 20 overs after they were invited to take the first strike. Naruemol Chaiwai scored an unbeaten 23 off 37 balls, while opener Nattakan Chantam added run-a-ball 18 hitting two boundaries. Thailand skipper Sornnarin Tippoch contributed 15off 27 and Chanida Sutthiruang remained unbeaten on run-a-ball 13.
Nepal’s Sarita Magar claimed 2-11, while skipper Rubina Chhetri and Karuna Bhandari took one wicket each. Nepal will take on Hong Kong in their second match on Tuesday.
