Nepal thrash Oman in WC Asia Qualifier
KATHMANDU: Nepal secured an imposing 150 runs victory over Oman in their fourth match of the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier on Tuesday but the team desperately needs a slice of luck to qualify for the next year's ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa.
In order to make it to the next round, Nepal should beat Kuwait and expect the table topper UAE to lose against Oman in their last fixture of the campaign.
Nepal rode on skipper Rohit Kumar Paudel's half-century to post a decent total on board before folding the opposition to 79 all out, after losing the toss at Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur today.
Paudel hit measured 75 runs off 81 balls including five fours and two sixes to post a challenging total on board. Lower-order batsman Bhim Sharki made impressive 39 off 43 balls with two fours and a maximum.
Oman was bowled out cheaply after Nepali bowlers took wickets in regular intervals. Pawan Sarraf was the pick of the bowler with 10-2-24-3. Pratis GC, Surya Tamang took two wickets while Kushal Malla and Bhim Sharki claimed a wicket each.
Later, skipper Paudel was declared man of the match for his scintillating performance with the bat.
