Nepal all out for a paltry 23 against Sri Lanka in ACC Women's Cup T20

KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a humiliating eight-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in the ACC Women's Asia Cup T20 2016 at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground of Bangkok in Thailand on Monday. It was Nepal's second defeat in a row.

Put in to bat, Nepal's innings folded in 16.2 overs for a paltry 23 runs. Opener Jyoti Pandey was the highest scorer for the team with 16 runs. Sita Rana Magar made four and Rubina Chhetry one. Eight others were bowled out for a duck.

Sri Lanka's BMSM Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera took three wickets each and OU Ranasinghe two to wreak havoc on Nepal.

Lankans met the easy target in 4.3 overs, losing just two wickets in the process.

Hasini Perera top-scored for Sri Lanka. She made an unbeaten 17 runs off 14.

Ranaweera (4-1-3-3) was crowned the Player of the Match.

This is Nepal's one of the worst performances against Sri Lanka.

Nepal, which narrowly lost both their matches with the hosts Thailand but finished in second place in the four-team event to qualify for this tournament, remain at the bottom of the table after today's loss.

Nepal are scheduled to play Bangladesh at AIT grounds tomorrow, Thailand at AIT grounds on December 1 and India at TCG on December 2.

After completion of matches on Monday, November 28
