KATHMANDU: A 15-member karate team, including 11 players, is on Friday leaving for Bangkok to compete in the Thailand Open Karate Championship slated for April 20-24.

Sonam Lama (55kg), Rabindra Karki (60kg), Diwash KC (below-84kg), Biplav Shrestha (below-84kg) and Lekhnath Mainali (above-84kg) will fight in men’s category, while Kushum Khadka (50kg), Anu Adhikari (50kg), Manisha Chaudhary (55kg), Sapana Lama (61kg), Bibhusha Thapa (below-68kg) and Kalpana Basnet (above-68kg) will take part in the women’s section.

Coaches Akbar Shah, Kushal Shrestha and Deepak Shrestha, and team officials Madhu Lama and Phurba Lama will accompany the players to Thailand.
