Nepali Media beat Indian Embassy

Kathmandu, March 18:

Nepali Media team defeated Indian Embassy team for the first time in four years when they registered a 23-run victory in the fourth Annual Friendly Cricket Match here at the Embassy ground today.

Batting first, Nepali Media accumulated 195/6 in 20 overs, riding on Diwakar Gyawalai’s 102. Gyawali became the first batsman to score a century in the history of the match. Devendra Subedi scored 32, while Bhavesh Shah contributed 15 runs.

For Embassy team, Manjeet Singh, Kulwant Singh and Rajesh Chauhan took two wickets each. In reply, the Embassy team scored 172/8 in 20 overs. Dr Dhananjay Naik top-scored for his team with 53 runs, whereas Manjeet Singh scored 36.

For Media team, Bhavesh Shah took two wickets. Gyawalai was named the man of the match, while Santosh Ojha of Media team was declared the best fielder. Manjeet Singh of the Embassy team won the best bowler’s award. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, gave away prizes.
