Nepal’s challenge over in Int’l Series

Nepali shuttlers faced defeat in the quarter-finals of the Yonex Sunrise Nepal International Series here at the Nepal APF Club covered hall today.
The only player in men’s singles quarter-finals, Ratnajit Tamang lost 21-14, 22-24, 21-11 defeat at the hands of Kaushal Dharmamer of India. Vietnam’s Cao Cuon Pham, TeckZhi Shoo of Malaysia and Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thaland also made it to the semi-finals.
In women’s singles, Soraya Aghaeihajiaagha of Iran, Thet Htar Thuzar of Myanmar, Rashi Tyagi of India and Chananchida Jucharoen of Thailand entered the last four.
Three Nepali pairs faced defeats in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles event. Danny BawaChrisnanta and Tan Wei Han of Singapore defeated Dipesh Dhami and Sova Gauchan 21-11, 21-10, while Panachai Worasaktayanan and Pitchayanin Ungka of Thailand beat Bijeet Thapa Magar and Pooja Shrestha 24-22, 21-14.
Likewise, Bikash Shrestha and Sita Rai suffered a 21-16, 21-8 defeat at the hands of Indian pair of Raju Mohamed Rehan and J Anees Kowsar. Thailand pair of Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Paewsampran also made it to the semi-finals with a 21-13, 21-14 victory over Georges Julien Paul and Aurelie Marie Elisa Allet of Mauritius.
Also, three Nepali pairs exited from women’s doubles quarter-finals. Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives defeated Jessica Gurung and Sunayna Mukhiya 21-12, 21-11; while Amita Giri and Rashila Maharjan withdrew from their match against Iran’s Soraya Aghaeihajiaagha and Myanmar’s ThetHtarThuzar.
Indian pair of Aparna Balan and Sruthi KP made it to the semi-finals along with Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa and Kavidi Sirimannage of Bhutan.
In men’s doubles, Nepal’s Ratnajit Tamang and Dipesh Dhami faced a 21-19, 16-21, 21-14 loss against Thailand pair Warit Sarapat and Panachai Worasaktayanan. Two Indian pairs V Hanumaiah Ranganatha/A Surya and Hemanth M Gowda/ Madhusudan Madappa entered the semi-finals along with Thailand’s Supak Jomkoh and Wachirawit Sothon.
