Nepal's Lamichhane grabs two to become top BBL wicket taker, Stars defeat Sixers

KATHMANDU: Nepal's leg-spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane took the Australian Big Bash League by storm with two wickets for Melbourne Stars on Thursday's clash with Sydney Sixers, taking up his wicket tally to seven in three matches and standing atop the wicket-takers' list, at present.

With Lamichhane dismissing Sixers' Moises Henriques and Tom Curran both with lbw, Stars limited Sixers at 130-9 and chased the target in 14.5 overs at a loss of five wickets to bag their first win of the league.

Lamichhane, who has shined in the Australian leg, had recorded two debut wickets and three in the second match in his eight over spell. However, Stars were unable to produce a favorable result in both of the previous matches.

Nepali fans who flocked the Sydney Cricket Ground to witness the teenage sensation cheered for the 18-year-old from top of their lungs as he rolled on to mount top in the wicket takers' list.
