Dublin, July 10:
The Netherlands and UAE will play-off on Monday for the final qualifying spot for the 2007 World Cup. Ireland, Scotland, Bermuda and Canada had already secured their places by finishing on top of their groups at the ICC Trophy and on Saturday the Dutch beat Denmark while the UAE saw off Namibia. Holland thrashed the Danes by 89 runs. The Dutch were unlucky to miss out on automatic qualification from Group B. Bas Zuiderent and Dan van Bunge both hit centuries as Holland amassed 314/6 in 50 overs. Denmark did not get close in their reply and were bowled out for 225. The UAE ended Namibia’s dream of a second consecutive appearance at the World Cup. Gerry Synman contributed 82 not out to a competitive Namibia target of 240/7 in 50 overs but UAE reached the target with 18 balls to spare.
