Newton High School and Morang School Volleyball Commission advanced to the boys’ category pre-quarters of the first PABSON U-18 National Volleyball Tournament here at the Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre today.

Newton defeated Shree Sailung Ghyang of Dolakha 25-12, 25-10, while Morang saw off Advance Academy of Dhading 25-9, 25-22 to make it to the round of 16.

Similarly, Kavre School Volleyball Commission defeated Paramount Academy 25-16, 20-25, 25-21, Glacier College beat Guransebhumi 13-25,25-22, 25-19 and Binayak Boarding School of Dhanusa saw off Himchuli Academy of Bhaktapur 25-9, 25-16.

In girls’ section matches, Mekhauli Sports defeated Paropakar 25-8, 25-7 and Springdel outplayed Three Star 25-8, 25-16 and advanced to the pre-quarters.

The winners and runners-up in both the categories will get Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively, while teams finishing third will get Rs 35,000 each. The individual award winners will get Rs 5,000 each.
