NKF fete SA Games medallists

KATHMANDU: Nepal Karate Federation (NKF) feted the 11th South Asian Games medallists with cash rewards today.

Karate won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals in SA Games, held during January 29 to February 9 in Dhaka. In all, Nepal had won eight gold, nine silver and 20 bronze medals. The NKF also

honoured the SA Games coaches, jury members

and referees.

Sunil Lama, Binod Shakya and Ganga Adhikari had clinched gold medals in Dhaka while Binod Maharjan and Anu Adhikari had won silver. The 10th SA Games gold medal winner Kushal Shrestha had won kumite bronze and was also a member of bronze winning team kata event. Others in the team kata were Ganesh Bahadur Thing and Parsuram Bastola.

All three gold medallists were rewarded with Rs 25,000 each while silver medal winners received Rs 15,000 apiece. Kushal received Rs 10,000 for his individual bronze and an additional Rs 5,000 for winning team kata bronze. Other two members of the team kata got Rs 5,000 each. Also receiving Rs 5,000 each were chief coach Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, coaches trio Deepak Shrestha, Hira Singh Dangol and Naomi Kondo, team manager Singha Bahadur Rana, referees/judges Prakash Dhaubadel, Rajendra Kapali, Mahesh Ranjit and Bishal Mote.

Meanwhile, the Lalitpur Construction Entrepreneurs Association also feted karateka Binod with a cash reward of Rs 70,000 in a separate programme today.
