NNIPA, NSC reach agreement
KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) was severe criticised by the Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) today for neglecting the preparation for the 11th South Asian Games.
The NNIPA alleged NSC of hampering the players preparation by not cleaning the garbages littered at the Dasharath Stadium during a mass meeting of the Newa Struggle Committee on Saturday. The morning practice session of more than a dozen games were affected due to the garbage. The NSC employees only showed up at the stadium to clean the garbage after 10:00am, the time after players' morning practice expires.
The NNIPA cleaned up a section of stadium and placed the garbage inside the NSC office. They also threw the name plates of the NSC office bearers including that of the NSC Member Secretary at the garbage. The NNIPA even padlocked the NSC for one and half hours.
The tension subsided after the NSC made commitment to implement their demands. The NSC agreed to carry out a regular sanitation at the stadium and make NSC a non smoking zone. Also, the NSC agreed to consult the NNIPA before giving the stadium for any programme and manage the hoarding boards.
