NOC assigns Shrestha for Rio preparation

The Nepal Olympic Committee on Friday assigned its Member Nilendra Shrestha to look after the preparation for next month’s Rio Olympic Games.
Shrestha, the General Secretary of Nepal Triathlon Association, was handed over the responsibility following a meeting with the seven players selected for the Olympics, their coaches and representatives of the national associations.
The NOC summoned seven players from five sports disciplines and their coaches to discuss about Nepal’s meaningful participation in the Rio Games.
Among the seven players who have earned wildcard entries to the 2016 Olympic Games so far, taekwondo player Nisha Rawal and judoka Phupu Lhamu Khatri are currently in South Korea and Hungary respectively in foreign training under the Olympic Scholarship Programme.
Archer Jit Bahadur Moktan, athletes Sarashati Bhattarai and Hari Kumar Rimal and swimmers Shirish Gurung and Gaurika Singh are training in Nepal.
Olympians Sangina Baidhya, Pushpa Raj Ojha and Debu Thapa are picked as taekwondo, athletics and judo coaches respectively, while Ishwor Karki (swimming) and Deepak Gurung (archery) have been named the coaches.
The NOC also decided to ask the players selected for the Rio Olympics Games to fill the whereabouts form apart from assessing the training of athletes on regular basis.
