NOC urged for Karate inclusion in SAG

Lalitpur, October 7

Nepal Olympic Committee held a meeting with its member associations regarding the 12th South Asian Games here on Wednesday.

The meeting, also attended by National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, discussed about the agendas for the South Asian Olympic Committee meeting to be held in Chennai on October 11.

The participants of the meeting urged the NOC to propose the meeting for the inclusion Karate in the 12th edition of the Games to be held in Guwahati and Shillong from January 10-20.

The meeting also discussed about sending players for abroad training and inviting foreigner coaches to train the Nepali athletes. NOC president Jeevan Ram Shrestha said Nepal would urge the organisers to continue with the events included in the previous edition held in Bangladesh.

The organisers have proposed 22 sports and the final decision will be taken from Chennai meeting. The events included by India are Taekwondo, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Wushu, Basketball, Cycling, Football, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis and Triathlon.
