NOCs’ Olympic Day Run a runaway success in Valley, outside

Kathmandu, June 23:

Olympic Day Run, organised by the internationally recognised Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) concluded in Panauti today. Starting from Malpi International School in Panauti, 2,000 people including students and teachers from different schools, representatives of various associations and locals participated. The 4-km race ended at the Ishwori temple. The event was organised by NOC under the auspicies of International Olympic Committee (IOC). Locals of Panauti celebrated Olympic Day with a cultural programme. The event was inaugurated

by Sapta Kaji Budacharya, former Mayor of Panauti district with a message from Dr Jaque Rouge, president of IOC. Participants received certificates at the end of the event. Meanwhile, the government-recognised NOC also celebrated Olympic Day in all five development areas. Kishor Bahadur Singh, president of this NOC and member secretary of National Sports Council inaugurated the event.

In the capital, the rally started from Dasharath Stadium. In all, there were around 5,000 participants including secretaries of various ministries, diplomats, NSC and NOC officials, members of various organisations, athletes and players. The event concluded at the Stadium after taking a round various places. Krishna Bahadur Thapa inaugurated the event in Biratnagar, under the programme of Eastern Regional Sports Development Committee. There were around 500 participants. Central Regional Spo-rts Development Committee, Parsa also organised an event. Similarly, Olympic Day was celebrated in Po-khara, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi.
