Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club recorded victories on the inaugural day of the seventh Prime Minister Cup Women's Volleyball Tournament here at the Nepalgunj Stadium covered hall today.

NPC defeated Hongwangji New Diamond Sports Club 3-2 in the opening match. NPC opened with 25-19 win before New Diamond levelled the scores with a 28-26 victory. NPC restored the lead with a 25-19 victory in the third set and New Diamond hit back with a 26-17 win pushing the match into fifth set.

The departmental side recorded an easy 15-8 win in the fifth set to complete the victory. Kopila Rana of NPC was named the player of the match. In the day's another match, TAC beat Lumbini United 3-0.

Lumbini failed to earn double digits in all three sets as the Army team conceded eight points each in the first two sets and seven in the third. Safia Pun of TAC was named the player of the match.

A total of five teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Banke District Volleyball Association.

The team with most number of points after the round robin league will win the tournament.

Top four teams will receive Rs 500,000, Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
