BIRATNAGAR: Nepal Police Club (NPC) lifted the title of the Birat Gold Cup Football Tournament with a 1-0 win over defending champions Jhapa-XI at the Sahid Maidan Rangasala in Biratnagar on Saturday. Bharat Shah scored the solitary goal in the 87th minute. Shah found the nets in an open post as Jhapa goalkeeper Binay Shrestha came out to clear the ball. With the win, NPC bagged Rs 501,000, while Jhapa-XI received Rs 301,000. Ananta Thapa and Bishal Shrestha of NPC received the best coach and goalkeeper awards, while Yogesh Gurung, Devendra Tamang and Karna Limbu of Jhapa-XI were adjudged the best midfielder, defender and forward respectively. Suman Subedi of NPC was named the best player of the tournament and he received a motorcycle.
