Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club recorded victories in the men's T20 Cricket Tournament under the ninth National Games here at the TU Stadium today.
NPC defeated Lumbini Province by 76 runs to move to the top in Group A with five points, one more than second-placed TAC, who beat Madhesh Province by six wickets. Gandaki, Madhesh and Lumbini have three points each.
Batting first, NPC posted 204-4 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Lumbini to 128-7. Playersof-the-match Kushal Bhurtel top scored for NPC with 75 off just 36 balls, while Aarif Sheikh remained unbeaten on 22-ball 50. Sunil Dhamala struck three fours and a six in his 31-ball 35, while Dilip Nath scored 33 off 27 balls.
In reply, Basir Ahamad scored a quick fire 46 off 28 balls hitting a four and four sixes, while Saurav Khanal was the next best with 20- ball 24. Lalit Rajbanshi took 3-21 for NPC, while Karan KC and Gulsan Jha claimed two wickets each.
In another match, Madhesh scored 104-7 in their allotted 20 overs before TAC reached 106-4 with 11 balls to spare. Opener Santosh Karki top scored for Madhesh with 17-ball 21 while skipper Hasim Ansari contributed 20. Sompal Kami and Sushan Bhari grabbed two wickets each for TAC.
In reply, skipper Binod Bhandari scored 33-ball 34 not out with the help of four boundaries, while Rohit Kumar Paudel scored run-aball 25. Opener Arju Saud scored 17, while Rajesh Pulami remained unbeaten on 11-ball 16. Two matches at the Mulpani grounds - APF Club vs Bagmati, and NRNA Sports Academy vs Province-I - were abandoned without a ball bowled.
