NPC thrash Bijaya Youth Club 3--0, advance into semis of Hetauda Gold Cup
HETAUDA: The Nepal Police Club have trampled Bijaya Youth Club by 3--0 to advance into the last four of the 3rd Tuborg Hetauda Gold Cup Football tournament here in Hetauda, on Sunday.
NPC's striker Abhishek Rimal scored a brace and Ravi Paswan added another to seal a comprehensive victory for the departmental team.
Rimal broke the dead lock on 11th minute after put through on goal before defense splitting pass by Ravi Paswan.
He scored his and team's second goal on the stroke of half time.
After the restart, Paswan sealed the game in the hour mark after Rimal repaid Paswan's favour with an assist.
Hetauda--based Bijaya Youth Club were reduced to 10 men after Manoj Bista was shown a straight red card by referee Padam Bahadur Bhujel.
Referee Bhujel sent him to the stands before he spoke foul language after hauling NPC's Prelan Tamang down in 81th minute of the game.
Later NPC's striker Abshiek Rimal was adjudged man-of-the-match for his winning performance. He collected Rs 5,000.
During the post match conference, Bijaya Youth Club head coach Subin Ghimire said "Despite fielding fame players, their failure to fit into the team was a reason behind the loss."
He added team failed to gel together in a short preparation.
NPC's coach Ananta Raj Thapa pointed to a balanced set of players for trampling their opponent. He also said that the team is prioritising giving chance to upcoming and talented players, however, team work was the reason behind the team's victory in today's fixture.
"Despite today's triumph, much more work is needed to be done to improve the performance of the team" Tamang added.
The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 5,00,000 and runner-up will receive Rs 3,00,000. The best player will be awarded Rs 50,000 while ther other five best players and best coach will collect Rs 15, 000.
A total of eight teams including Manang Marsyangdi, Bijaya Youth Club, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Farwest XI, Three Star Club and Sankata Club are taking part in the tournament.
