KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 4

Kathmandu Gurkhas emerged victorious against Karnali Yaks in today's Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL) match at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.

After winning the toss, Kathmandu Gurkhas elected to bowl, restricting Karnali Yaks to 149 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The Gurkhas successfully chased the 150-run target in 19.3 overs, with seven wickets down.

Sumit Maharjan anchored the chase with an unbeaten 40 off 37 balls, striking three boundaries and a six. Gerhard Erasmus made a significant contribution, scoring 38 runs from 28 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes.

Captain Karan KC played a blistering cameo, amassing 28 runs off just 10 balls with two boundaries and two sixes, while Michael Levitt chipped in with 22 runs, hitting two fours and a six.

For Karnali Yaks, the wickets were shared, with Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Gulshan Jha, Zeeshan Maqsood, and Bipin Sharma each taking one wicket.

Earlier in the innings, Karnali Yaks' Shikhar Dhawan showcased his class with an unbeaten 72 off 51 balls, laced with four boundaries and five sixes.

Chadwick Walton contributed 21 runs off 15 balls, hitting five boundaries, while Babar Hayat managed 13 runs from 18 balls. Gulshan Jha and Zeeshan Maqsood added 12 and 14 runs respectively to the total.

Kathmandu Gurkhas' bowling effort was led by Gerhard Erasmus, who took two crucial wickets.

Nathan Sowter, Dipesh Kandel, and skipper Karan KC each picked up a wicket, ensuring a disciplined performance that secured their team's victory.

In tomorrow's fixture, Pokhara Avengers face table-toppers Janakpur Bolts, while Kathmandu Gurkhas take on Sudur Paschim Royals in the second fixture.
