Kathmandu, October 5:

Kathmandu is all to host the Springwood-NRN Kathmandu International Marathon Tournament on Saturday.

Having been a talk of the town since its announcement, the event will feature at least 10,000 runners, claimed the organisers, Nepal Marathon Pvt Ltd, on the eve of the race. International

participants from 19 countries, national runners, amateur runners, students, business persons, artists and enthusiasts from different walks of life have registered their names.

“It is almost like a dream come true,” chief convenor and president of Nepal Marathon Pvt Ltd, Nilendra Raj Shrestha said. “This is the first time so many people are running together here following the culture of city marathon in the world.”

The marathon will start from Dasarath Stadium and passes through traditional centres of three districts of the valley before ending at the same point. Nepal TV will telecast the event — featuring full and half marathon, 10km and 5km — Live. The Rs 20 million project is awesome with the largest cash prize in Nepali sports history, said Shrestha. The winners will bag Rs four million.
