NSC Board gets full body
KATHMANDU: After a wait of more than three months, the National Sports Council (NSC) Board got its full board following the approval of the 10 members by the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet meeting held on Sunday nominated Min Krishna Maharjan and Kishor Rai from Nepali Congress, Amar Chandra Anil, Rita Thakur, Rita Jha and Gita Shrestha from Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Pitanbar Timilsina and Khadga Ranabhat from CPN-UML, Satya Narayan Chaudhary from Madhesi Janadhakir Forum (Loktantrik) and Rabindra Yadav from Sadbhawana Party (Rajendra Mahato) as the members of the country’s sports governing body.
Out of the newly-nominated 10 members, five — Min Krishna Maharjan (karate), Kishor Rai (football), Amar Chandra Anil (weightlifting), Pitanbar Timilsina (badminton) and Khadga Ranabhat (athletics) — have been actively involved in sports sector in different capacities.
Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Nepali had given Hari Babu Chaudhary the responsibility of Member Secretary after the cabinet meeting nominated him as the NSC member on August 26. Youth and Sports Minister is the chairman of the NSC board, which will take its complete shape after the appointment of vice-chairman and treasurer from among the members.
